Residence right by the sea on Elba

Residence Capobianco offers a view of the fortifications of the old town of Cosmopoli – now known as Portoferraio – which dominates the splendid northern coast of the island of Elba, known as “La Costa Bianca” for its white cliffs plunging straight into the sea.

Residence Capobianco overlooks this coast: the Padulella beach, a short stroll away, is accessible from the short private flight of steps: against the almost blinding white of the cliffs, the sea and its bed take on a thousand colours, from emerald green to aquamarine, from dark to bright blue, reflected in the white pebbles stained with small dark drops, which legend links to Jason, captain of the Argonauts.

Another of the island of Elba’s loveliest beaches, Capobianco, is on the other side of the promontory, just 100 metres away and accessible on foot or by swimming. There are many other options as well as diving and swimming: the beaches, part public and part occupied by beach clubs, also offer a bar and a restaurant.

Guests who come to stay here are delighted by our simple yet amazing position, which embraces the sea from the Scoglietto island with its lighthouse to the 16th century fortresses of Portoferraio and Napoleon’s villa.

Anyone who gets up to see the dawn or to take an early morning swim when the shore is still deserted can come back to breakfast by just climbing the few steps that separate Residence Capobianco from the beach. Wonderful experiences, shared with seagulls and cormorants, immersed in green surroundings, amongst flowers, breathing the fragrance of the sea, with its crystal-clear water and the perfumes of the Mediterranean vegetation, and listening to the murmur of the waves in the evening.

Some people prefer to seek solitude to read a book at sunset, up in our panoramic zone, an area open to all guests, with a pergola and sun loungers, which offers complete privacy.

There are also guests in search of more than “just” sea, who set out to explore a less well known Elba more similar to the rest of Tuscany, with rural areas of vineyards, olive groves and Mediterranean vegetation, or even the heart of world geology in Elba’s mines, or to climb into the chestnut woods on the archipelago’s highest mountain.

Residence Capobianco is like a large villa by the sea, comprising 10 apartments.

The apartments consist of studio apartments, one bedroom apartments (for up to 4 people) and two-bedroom apartments (for up to 6 people) a short stroll from the sea.  With independent entrance, they overlook the large garden with many Mediterranean plants. Each apartment has a private outdoor space for open air dining and relaxation, and some enjoy a sea view. All apartments have air conditioning, although this is rarely necessary due to the Residence’s green surroundings.

A convenient, simple garden shower where guests can cool off in the open air on their return from the beach before entering the apartment is always a welcome stop in full summer.

Small and medium size pets are admitted on request.
